New York Delirium is a "retroactive manifesto," an interpretation of the unformulated theory underlying the development of Manhattan; it is the account of the intrigues of an urbanism that, from its beginnings in Coney Island to the theorists of the skyscraper, has exploded its grid of origin.

This controversial and premonitory book (originally published in 1978) illustrates the relationships between a mutating metropolitan universe and the unique architecture it can produce; and also affirms that architecture often generates culture.
